About

Welcome to streetsmartcap – an abbreviation for streetsmartcapital. This will be a blog about financial topics.

Hi there I am streetsmart the founder of the blog. I am an investing enthusiast with 7 years of investment experience under my belt.

My investing journey started with discovering Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger, both great idols of mine. And reading one of Warren`s favorite books „The intelligent investor“ by Benjamin Graham, Buffett’s college professor.

It was followed by Philipp Fishers “Common stocks and uncommon profits”, one of Charlies favorite books.

Since than a lot has changed on my way to becoming a better investor. Starting with things like buying stuff with low P/Es, P/Bs and other metrics seems nowadays far away.

Today I concentrate on quality investments, the best of the best in their class. That are companies with big moats – competitive advantages. High returns, and excellent management.

As I would not consider smartness my main advantage, it´s rather street smartness, for me that means long-term-thinking with buying stocks when they are cheap. Seeing competitive advantages that are clear as glass. And betting on thrustworthy exceptional management.

I don´t focus on special market caps, or local markets. Maybe there will be special situations involved in my portfolio. But the main approach is to hold longer than the average stock investor and arbitrage time.

The main intention for this blog is to learn and grow with the readers as an investor and as a human being. There is a quote by the psychologist Abraham Maslow, which describes my endeavour, and is 100% applicable to investing in the stock market:

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.” – Abraham Maslow
